Updating the Past

The high area of Barcelona is the enclave of this amazing house, an impressive 1640 ft. five-room apartment, refurbished by interior designer Adela Cabré.

The scope was to update a classic house, making it compatible with the comforts and design of our days. The furniture has been designed almost completely with creations of the decorator herself, combined with some pieces brought in from Paris. However, some of the paintings and objects of art that were in the house have been kept, and given a new perspective by mixing them with modern elements.

The designer and her team saw clearly which of the existent elements had to be kept for their special value and singularity. One example is the magnificent wooden ceiling standing out in the library, a room in which Adela Cabré has known how to create an idyllic and welcoming space where to relax after a day’s work, with a good book in front of the fireplace or a talk with other family members.

The sobriety of the structures and the elegance of the colors chosen by Cabré bring an air of sophistication and good taste to each room of this impressive house. A genuine home in which memories of times past reign, but with all the virtues of the most modern design.
