Lasting pleasure

If there is one perfect place for relaxation, family games and watching your favourite movie, then it is without doubt the living room.

This is what Diana Blanchard sets out to achieve when creating a relaxing yet intimate living room space: “We carry out each project on a unique, individual basis, which is adapted to the requirements of each person we work with. Our designs are never reproduced.”

To achieve this relaxed style, Diana combines a number of elements such as the use of warm colours, carefully considered lighting and fabrics which will complement the overall scheme such as silk or linen. Often a key focal point in the room, such as a fireplace or chimney-piece, can add that extra special element.

Diana says; “Also, the creation of a seating plan which is implemented in an ergonomic way and is conductive to socialising and conversation is a must.”

The style of the furniture is another key factor in creating a cosy atmosphere. "The selected style of furniture is pertinent to the host’s personality and character as is personalised artwork, interesting accessories and objets d’art".

Blanchard also makes use of other decorative elements such as mirrors, painted papers, unique sculptures and standard lamps to further enhance the space within a small living room. In this way, the interior designer reminds us that it is not always necessary to have a big room or space in order to create the perfect home.
