A Provenzal home in South Hampton

A white and comfortable shelter at any time of the year. This was the first wish of celebrity Rita Schrager to decorate her villa in South Hampton, New York. She entrusted Hernan Arriaga when she decided to reform her residence, an idyllic place with French aesthetic in which Rita and her daughters, Sophia and Ava, spend special moments along the summer.

Rita knew perfectly the style of Arriaga was suitable for this project. The interior designer, who saw in the white palett all his inspiration, achieved a wonderful home for the summertime. Fresh, tasteful, simple but elegant. All rooms are decorated based on this key, further enhancing personality through small touchs of gray, blue and pink, colors that enhance the romantic aesthetic that Rita was looking for in her home, as if she were in The Provence.

Details of past and present coexist successfully in this project. One example is the dining room, where there are French furniture of XVII and XIX centuries with another master pieces, as Murano chandeliers designed by NIBA. Everything is designed to create an elegant and functional atmosphere.

Rita was born in Cuba and she wanted something that somehow will represent her roots. ”I decided to recovered the library walls with Tobacco Leafs. A very difficult task but as u can see, not impossible, and yet very beautiful. This is Ritas favorite room in the house. The couch is also very deep, in a off white linen, the rug is also from Argentina and antique side tables and great table lamps are from flair in NYC”, explains Arriaga.

Particularly striking is the guest bedroom, a separate room from the main building. It is designed to show the memories of a trip to Africa. "My partner Fabio Lopes designed this master piece using salvage wood to build a modern but yet rustic bed. Then I used the same material to recover the walls, which show a large African masks.”

A mixture of styles is always a risky decision. However, Hernan Arriaga has managed to play with tradition and modernity brilliantly, creating an amazing house.
