British Interior Designer April Russell particularly enjoys creating schemes for entrance halls.
She likes to set the mood with something special, be it the ”architectural detail, floor finish, wall colour and finish, lighting or the artwork, or of course, all of the above”, says the designer.
Russell likes a bit of theatre when creating ”the opening scheme" . The Entrance Hall is a ”first impression” and she thinks ”it’s fun to give the guest a hint of the wow factor to get their curiosity up for the space beyond the entrance”.
One way or the other, lighting and colour are on the top of her list and she feels ”it is essential to be able to adjust the level of light”. Be it on a control system or by candles, ”it is important to reflect the colours that the client feels are welcoming”.
