Witness of History

La Maison du Soleil Levant. This is the name of this wonderful eighteenth century residence located in a small town in Switzerland and decorated by Jorge Cañete, who wanted to be faithful to the name of the villa, inspired by the culture of far west countries. To achieves his goal, Cañete created environments full of Buddhist philosophy and where every detail evokes a wonderful serenity.

Between modernity and memory, the designer does not hesitate to use writing as a sign of culture and aesthetics. It is very common to find different decorations inscribed with messages, even the walls carry letters written in the eighteenth century. ”A tribute to the era in which housing was built,” explains Jorge Cañete.

Inside the house, Cañete emphasizes the lounge, furnished with international firms and chaired by a traditional Japanese kakemono , used by the designer to provide a zen atmosphere.

Another key issue in the style of Jorge Cañete is to mix traditional with modern aesthetic, so we can find Pierre Frey pieces with Louis XV-style furniture, or stools of Ashanti del Ghana along with art works sing by Antonio Tàpies.

Surely, a place created for meditation where we can be witness of the History.
