Cosy and femenine

Maureen Footer can change the apparent incompatibility between functional and sensual into the fascinating mixture of distinction and romanticism we are used to.

Her apartment, a contemporary high-rise on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, plans a cosy and feminine atmosphere thanks to some orange, green and coral shades as well as a soft lighting that suggests harmony and peace. "My small apartment reflects in a most personal way my passion for color layered with connoisseurship to create sensual, livable space".

The designer has obtained space versatility thanks to a studied distribution. In this way, the living-room becomes a place where you can rest, amuse yourself, work and read. “I adore the living room. I read, write, study and work on my laptop in this space surrounded by things I love. It is literally a living space for me.”

An environment full of history because of the valuable antiques which it consists of a Louis XV commode signed by Migeon, one of the cabinetmakers favoured by Madame Pompadour, a 17th century Flemish tapestry, a 18th century wonderful French mirror and paintings of well known artists whose works are in the Metropolitan.

The bedroom, the most intimate area, reflects the exquisite and smart style of this New Yorker. "I really enjoy bedrooms that are havens and in particular and I like to create romantic beds." The canopy stands out as the predominant element in a warm and pleasant environment. “I love to be in a canopied bed with embroidered sheets and my latest book.”

A tasteful touch of classical romanticism in one of the most wonderful cities in the world.
