The picture of serenity

Along the historic and exclusive 5th Avenue in Manhattan, interior designer Timothy Whealon opens the doors of his marvelous apartment: a haven of peace and tranquility in the heart of New York City.

The home is a ”renovated 1920’s Manhattan pre-war apartment with modern architectural detailing” that radiates calm thanks to a meticulous design work.

A soothing palette that adapts to changes of natural light throughout the day is one of the secrets of the apartment, a perfect combination made by Whealon that achieves a special result and gives elegance to each room.

The master bedroom, his favorite room, symbolizes the spirit that Whealon wanted to achieve in the rest of the home. His design is “serene and uncomplicated, but has a worldly view," explains Whealon.

Within these parameters, each room assumes its own personality. Whealon always creates spaces with art in mind – he has a love for the fine and decorative arts, with objects and unique pieces that perfectly characterize the timeless design that he loves.

His New Guinea clam shell currency rings, displayed on stands in his chic living room, and the white lacquer etageres he designed, filled with his favorite books and objects from his travels all around the world, make him feel at home: a small oasis of peace in New York. A truly glamorous refuge in the city.
