Short trip to the mountains Tweet
A white mantle covers the roof of one of the houses that draw the mountain. Late afternoon comes and is the perfect time to spend the next few hours near the fireplace, while the aroma of freshly baked bread for dinner begins to be distributed throughout the house and the little ones running around, laughing and playing after a long day in the snow.
With the arrival of autumn and winter many families enjoy their holidays in a cozy and warm refuge in the mountains, looking for a bit peace and serenity. It does not mean we want to isolate ourselves from new technologies or elements that give us a great deal of comfort in our day to day.
With this philosophy in mind, the British firm Wilkinson Beven Design projects its winter Chalets combining comfort and good taste, making small details its top allies in finding the perfect decoration on a second home, where luxury and elegance always is a must. "Luxury holidays chalets share many similarities to luxury living any ware around the world. Chalets are designed with family or family groups to enjoy time together, so we want to create a relaxed homely feel within each chalet interior, creating key areas and features which makes each project stand out as being individual for clients." Explains John Beven, one of the alma mater of the firm with Richard Wilkinson.
Warm and soft fabrics, the use of natural materials like wood and stone, in communion with the environment, are always the best choices to boost a sense of comfort and tranquility in the home. ”Our chalets capsulate luxury living in the mountains by using quality natural materials playing on the mountain surroundings mixing soft fabrics and furs with rugged natural stones quarried from the mountains. Combining interior function with luxury materials and style is our main challenge striking a balance creating warm cosy spaces to relax after a day’s skiing.”
The light is always present in the minds of both designers. It assumes an important role in Chalets, especially if you have the idea of adding basement pools, spas or a cinema rooms. ”Lighting is always an important part of any project controlling the lighting of architectural features and artworks which work alongside fabric palates individually chosen for each room. Bespoke upholstery items make our interiors individual using natural bed linen creates a crisp look enabling the surrounding fabric palate and bed throws inject colour and texture into a room.” Says Beven.
A luxury without ostentation is palpable in each of the winter house of Wilkinson Beven Design, ”creatting the comfort and surroundings of a home with the facilities and staff providing the personal service of a boutique hotel.”
